Health Awareness and Free Testing Initiative for the Ukrainian Community in Varna
IOM Bulgaria’s team in Varna, in partnership with the Regional Health Inspectorate, organised an important health event at the IOM's office in Varna. The event provided valuable information and free medical testing for the Ukrainian community in the city.
During the session, a doctor from the Regional Health Inspectorate delivered a presentation on viruses , raising awareness about key health concerns. Participants had the unique opportunity to undergo free examinations in the RHI’s mobile laboratory and test for:
- HIV/AIDS
- Hepatitis B and C
- Enteroviruses
- Tuberculosis
- Rubella (measles)
The doctor also conducted consultations, answered questions, and provided guidance on health-related issues.
The event saw strong participation, with many community members taking the opportunity to prioritize their health. A particularly touching moment was when the youngest participant, a 5-year-old girl, showed incredible awareness and responsibility for her wellbeing.
IOM remains committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of displaced communities through partnerships and initiatives that empower individuals to care for their health.
IOM Bulgaria's Ukraine Response activities are currently funded by the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM)
