IOM Bulgaria at the Second Migration Biennale
On 20th December 2024, IOM Bulgaria had the honor of participating in the Second Edition of the Migration Biennale – Dialogue and Exchange of Experiences. This unique event, hosted by the Center for Migration Studies (CERMES) at the New Bulgarian University (NBU), brought together migration-focused organizations, students, professors, migrants, and friends to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
The Biennale is an initiative that seeks to spotlight the people behind the numbers, breaking stereotypes and showcasing the mission of organizations dedicated to supporting migrants in and from Bulgaria. This year’s program was enriched by the support of ERUA and the ConnectBG research project.
IOM presented its programs and activities to a diverse audience, including students, faculty, external guests, and fellow organizations in the migration field, sparking lively discussions on topics like:
- What is a Safe Zone?
- What is the journey of an unaccompanied minor, and what challenges do these children face?
Many students expressed their enthusiasm for volunteering with IOM, proposing ideas for activities and initiatives to support unaccompanied children accommodated in the RRCs.
The Biennale ended with the traditional Migration Christmas Café, celebrating collaboration and inclusion. We thank CERMES, NBU, and all partners for this inspiring platform to connect and share ideas.
