Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bulgaria, IOM assists the development of national mechanisms to combat and counteract trafficking in human beings and supports victims of trafficking.

IOM's Ukraine Response in Bulgaria – Situation Report for 2024
As the war in Ukraine continues to uproot lives, IOM Bulgaria remains committed to providing essential assistance to refugees and displaced persons seeking safety and stability. Through comprehensive support programs, we are working to meet urgent needs while fostering inclusion and long-term solutions.
Key achievements in 2024:
- More than 3,800 people received social, legal, psychological counseling and support with access to services.
- More than 2,300 families with children received food vouchers.
- More than 2,500 people benefited from IOM’s healthcare assistance.
- More than 500 individuals received language classes, facilitating inclusion and access to employment.
As we look ahead to 2025, IOM Bulgaria is committed to expanding our assistance to refugees from Ukraine, with a focus on inclusion and long-term support.
