"Putting Dignity First: IOM Bulgaria’s New Step Toward Sustainable Voluntary Return"
Building on its long-standing experience in voluntary return, IOM Bulgaria has launched the new project “Information and Support for Voluntary Return and Reintegration.”
The project aims to provide reliable information and individualized support to migrants who are considering voluntary return to their country of origin.
The event was officially opened by Mr. Radoslav Stamenkov, Head of IOM Bulgaria. During the session, the activities of the Migration Directorate at the Ministry of Interior and the work of the General Directorate “Border Police” – key partners in the voluntary return process – were also presented.
The second part of the event was interactive and allowed participants to roll up their sleeves and apply their expertise to solving real-life cases from IOM’s practice. Through a deep dive into specific migrant stories, they identified the most appropriate solutions, putting people’s needs and human dignity first.
The event concluded with a networking session. This time, participants were encouraged to answer personal and informal questions – a great opportunity to build connections, exchange ideas, and foster stronger and more sustainable cooperation among all involved stakeholders.
The project “Information and Support for Voluntary Return and Reintegration” is funded by Bulgaria’s National Programme under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 2021–2027, with the financial support of the European Union and the budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.
