In Bulgaria, IOM is focusing on responding to the current migration situation in the country, in support of the Bulgarian Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) and direct supervision of Project coordinator – AVRR, the Project Assistant will be responsible and accountable for assisting with implementation of multiple AVRR operational tasks of IOM office in Sofia, with the following duties and responsibilities:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities;
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics;
- Provide operations assistants with organization and logistics support to meetings, trainings, conferences, public events, etc;
- Provide administrative and operational/logistic support to beneficiaries including vulnerable ones;
- Respond to and act on direct standard tasks assigned by the Project coordinator or HoO;
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistics, presentations and other form of documents and bring them to the attention of the supervisor;
- Support operational staff in making travel and hotel arrangements and prepare travel requests/claims as required;
- Prepare, organize and deliver financial documents and reports according to IOM Data Protection Principles and protocols in place;
- Undertake duty travel as required;
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree – bachelor’s or higher in Political or Social Sciences; International relations; Migration Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or
- High school graduate with four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, E-mail, Outlook and comfort with learning new software.
- Discreet, patient and willingness to learn new things;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups is an advantage;
- Prior work experience with organizational work in an international organization, non-government or government institution/organization is an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in Bulgarian and English is required.
Knowledge of any other UN language is an advantage.
Other
Driving license Category B is required.
