In Bulgaria, IOM is focusing on responding to the current migration situation in the country, in support of the Bulgarian Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. 

 

Context: Under the direct supervision of the relevant Project Coordinators and the overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO), and in close coordination with the Public Information Associate, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the visibility of IOM Bulgaria’s mission and activities and supporting the implementation of information campaigns aiming to increasing the tolerance of Bulgarian society towards migrants and facilitating the integration, including social and economic inclusion, of third-country nationals (TCNs) legally residing in Bulgaria.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. In coordination with the Public Information Associate and other relevant IOM staff, support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all communication related activities for IOM Bulgaria’s programs and projects.

2. Participate in the audiovisual coverage of IOM Bulgaria’s activities, which includes producing visual content such as photos and videos of events, field activities, and project milestones.

3. Assist with development and implementation of information campaigns, including the publication of content on social media and IOM Bulgaria’s website, the production of videos and other information materials, the organization of photo exhibitions, multicultural events, seminars, film festivals and other activities.  

4. Assist with the development of project technical tools and materials, such as tender procedures, templates and others, related to information campaigns, and maintain contact with selected service providers. 

5. Participate in the media and social media focal points groups established by IOM’s Media Department at the Regional Office in Vienna and HQ in Geneva, including taking part in joint activities and trainings.

6. Support the drafting of project-specific content in accordance with IOM standards and donor requirements. This will include newsletters, press releases, briefing notes, talking points and communication products – in Bulgarian and English. 

7. Upload information and support the management of IOM Bulgaria’s website and social media accounts, including preparing new material and updating content on a daily and weekly basis, as required.  

8. Support the development of effective methods to advertise and market social media and website content related to information campaigns to the wider public.  

9. Assist with the production and dissemination of IOM publications – such as Information sheets, Annual Reviews, Guidelines and Handbooks, including content and ensuring they are aligned with IOM publication standards. 

10. Support the production, sorting and maintenance of a photo and video gallery with content from IOM Bulgaria’s project activities.

11. Support the maintenance of relations with media outlets. 

12. Attend UN Communications Group meetings and participate in joint activities.

13. Strictly adhere to IOM’s Standards of Conduct and Policy for Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

14. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University degree in Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, Audiovisual Production, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or

• Completed high school degree from an accredited academic institution, with four (4) years of relevant professional experience. 

Professional Experience

• Proven professional experience in audiovisual production, including photography, video production, and graphic design.

• Proven professional experience in digital communication and social media management.

• Knowledge of photo editing software (Lightroom and Photoshop) and at least basic knowledge of video editing software (Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve).

• Experience working with international and/or non-governmental organizations, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is an advantage.

 

Skills

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro; basic knowledge of graphic design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Canva) is an advantage.

• Proven knowledge of events photography and video production techniques.

• Technical expertise in operating and maintaining professional video and photography equipment, including mirrorless cameras, audio recording devices, lenses, and grip equipment.

• Ability to organize and manage a large portfolio of audiovisual materials (photo/video).

• Strong skills in visual storytelling, creating compelling digital content.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

• Creativity, innovation, and attention to detail are essential.

 

Languages

• Fluency in Bulgarian and English is required.
