IOM Bulgaria delivers support to refugees from Ukraine in Byala
As the devastating war in Ukraine continues, over 60,000 displaced Ukrainians currently reside in Bulgaria, with Varna hosting one of the largest populations. As part of IOM's Ukraine Response, our team in Varna has been actively supporting those in need.
This week, IOM Bulgaria's team visited the town of Byala to meet people fleeing the war and provide crucial assistance. They distributed essential medicines to people with chronic health conditions and offered financial aid in the form of pre-paid cards to vulnerable individuals identified through a thorough screening process. To support children affected by the crisis, they also delivered school supplies.
IOM Bulgaria’s efforts reflect the organization's commitment to addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of those displaced by the conflict, providing essential aid and long-term support.
These activities were implemented with the financial support of the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration
