Celebrating Ukraine’s Independence Day with Unity and Joy in Primorsko
On 24 August, in celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day, IOM Bulgaria’s team in Burgas contributed to the organisation of a humble but heartwarming event for the refugee community in Primorsko. The town has become a temporary home for many displaced by the ongoing war in Ukraine, including vulnerable individuals and numerous children.
The event brought together people of all ages, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with music and dance. The children, in particular, were at the heart of the celebration, their smiles a poignant reminder of resilience and hope in the face of hardship. It was especially touching to see the joy on the faces of children who have endured so much, as they momentarily left behind the worries of displacement to embrace the festivities.
IOM Bulgaria provided festive decorations and treats for the young attendees, adding to the sense of unity and togetherness that permeated the day. The spirit of the event was one of shared joy and community, reinforcing the bonds between those who have been affected by the conflict.
These activities were implemented within the framework of the project "Supporting Socioeconomic Efforts for Refugees from Ukraine,” funded by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).
