Christmas tree decoration in the Registration and Reception Centers in Sofia
The Christmas holidays are usually a time of high spirits, gaiety and pleasant moments spent with family and friends. However, many of the migrants in Bulgaria are far away from their loved ones and their everyday life, devoid of festive carefree, is filled with uncertainty and worries about the future. However, at IOM Bulgaria we are convinced that everyone, regardless of their background, cultural identity, ethnicity or religion has the right to rejoice and feel the festive spirit.
With regard to that the social workers of IOM Bulgaria in RRC Sofia – Voenna Rampa and RRC Sofia - Ovcha Kupel organized a traditional Christmas tree decoration activity for the unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors, accommodated in the Safety zones.
The IOM team introduced the children to the traditions of Christmas and the Christmas tree. Decorating the tree with tinsel, artificial snow, toys and lights and creates a feeling of warmth and coziness and heralds the joy of the upcoming Christmas holidays in Bulgaria. The sound of Christmas music added to the festive mood.
This activity was implemented within the framework of the project “Support for unaccompanied minors, seeking international protection” funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2020 under the Programme “Home Affairs”.
