Distribution of food vouchers in Plovdiv
An IOM Bulgaria team travelled to the second largest city in Bulgaria - Plovdiv, where it visited "Second Home" accommodation center run by Ukraine Support & Renovation Foundation where it met with people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
According to representatives of the local refugee community, due to the variety of job opportunities, in recent months the city has become a magnet for refugees from Ukraine and an increasing number of them are settling in city and the region.
In the course of three days the IOM team distributed food vouchers to tens of families with children coming from the most affected areas in Ukraine. The young ones also received school supplies kits. Furthermore, our social workers also provided healthcare support to people with serious health conditions purchasing medicines for those in need.
IOM Bulgaria's Ukraine Response activities are realised with the support of The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the U.S. Department of State, UK Aid Direct, funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
