Exhibition of the Algerian artist – AMIRA
“The Animal World of Algeria seen through Amira’s art”, Exhibition Hall in Bulgarian Cultural Center, 13 Veslets Str.
Kheira Habibes (AMIRA) is an Algerian artist, born in 1980.
Amira studied Graphic Design in Algeria and graduated in 2013 with Diplôme d'Etudes Artistiques Supérieures (D. E. S.A). She has a professional interest in pottery, watercolour painting, poster design and others.
Amira used to work as a graphic designer and cartoonist in Algeria in Journal El Michouar TV 7 and Journal El Mawkif. She has also collaborated with several local schools, conducting art workshops with kids.
Amira is a laureate of several Art Awards in Algeria. Some of them are the Award of the President of the Republic - “Ali Maachi” for young artists in category “Best artwork in the field of plastic arts” (2009); First prize in the Cartoon Art Competition Sidi Bel Abbés (2008) and many more.
In the past 7 years Amira and her family live in Sofia, Bulgaria. Now she is fully dedicated to rising her two children.
As part of its cultural integration activities, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) supports the artist with the organization of her first solo exhibition in Europe. The title of the exhibition is “The Animal World of Algeria seen through Amira’s art”. The Algerian photographer Rachid Khoriba created a photo series in 2021 with a focus on the Life in the Algerian dessert. He shared his photos with Amira, which inspired her to create the paintings of the series “The Animal World of Algeria seen through Amira’s art” (2021-2022).
The exhibition’s official opening is scheduled for 12 May 2022 (Thursday) from 16.30 to 18.30 in the Exhibition Hall in Bulgarian Cultural Center, 13 Veslets Str. The exhibition will remain open to public until COB 19 May 2022, every day between 9.00 – 17.00. All visitors are welcome.
The events will be realized within the framework of the project "Training and counselling of legal migrants and persons seeking or having received the international protection" funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020.
