IOM Bulgaria Reaches Out to Refugees from Ukraine in Kazanlak and Stara Zagora
In our commitment to supporting those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, the IOM Bulgaria team recently visited the towns of Kazanlak and Stara Zagora. This journey allowed us to connect with and extend a helping hand to families who have been displaced by the devastating war.
Our IOM social workers were on the ground, distributing school supplies kits to the resilient children who have been uprooted from their homes and schools in the most affected areas of Ukraine. These educational supplies underscore our commitment to the importance of education for children affected by the conflict, even in challenging circumstances.
Families that have fled the war in Ukraine, especially those with children, are facing immense challenges. To alleviate their immediate hardships, our team distributed food vouchers, ensuring that nutritious meals are within reach.
Our dedicated colleagues also conducted vulnerability screenings, identifying those who are most at risk. They provided essential financial assistance to those who needed it most, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community receive the support they require.
In addition to providing educational supplies, food vouchers, and financial support, our team recognized the urgent need for medical care among those with chronic health conditions. Thus, we procured vital medicines, ensuring that individuals with ongoing health concerns receive the treatment they require.
These efforts are part of our commitment to standing alongside those who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. We believe in providing holistic support to these brave individuals, understanding that their journey towards recovery and rebuilding their lives is one that we're honored to be a part of.
These activities were implemented with the financial support of the Department of State's Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), The Government of Sweden, The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, German Federal Foreign Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
