Seminars on “Return and reintegration as part of migration management” in Velingrad and Bankso

The International Organization for Migration – Mission in Bulgaria carried out 2 seminars on “Return and reintegration as part of migration management” on November 8-9th in Velingrad and November 10-11th in Bansko, Bulgaria.

The topics discussed during the seminars were related to IOM’s approach to return, readmission and reintegration, a presentation on economic and social context in the Republic of Iraq and IOM’s reintegration activities there, as well as IOM’s support to Iraqi government in migration governance.

Representatives of Migration Directorate with the Ministry of Interior and Border Police Directorate also gave detailed presentations on their activities in the field of returns and readmission.

IOM Mission in Bulgaria invited Maria Voica - a specialist on the topic from the IOM Regional office in Brussels and Mohammed al Mashhadani and Ala Alatroshi from the migration management department of IOM Iraq as speakers for the seminars.

Over 65 participants took part in both seminars, of whom representatives of International organization for migration (IOM), Migration Directorate, Border police directorate, State Agency for Refugees with Council of Ministers, regional directorates of MoI, and European border and coast guard agency Frontex.

These activities were implemented within the framework of the project “Capacity building for voluntary return”, contract # 812108-3/28.01.2021, financed by AMIF national programme and co-financed by the EU.
