Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bulgaria, IOM assists the development of national mechanisms to combat and counteract trafficking in human beings and supports victims of trafficking.

Study visit in Mongolia
The International Organization for Migration Mission in Bulgaria conducted a study visit to raise awareness and strengthen the capacity in the field of voluntary returns to Mongolia.
The delegation included representatives of the International Projects Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Migration Directorate and Border Police Directorate, as well as an IOM Bulgaria team and translator. During the visit, the participants held several meetings and exchanged experience and information with representatives of IOM Mongolia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Justice and Interior, the Migration Service and the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
The delegation, furthermore, met with several citizens of Mongolia who have voluntarily returned from Bulgaria and got informed about the progress of their integration process in their country of origin.
The visit was conducted within the framework of the project “Strengthening the capacity for voluntary return” implemented by the International Organization for Migration and funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020.
