Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bulgaria, IOM assists the development of national mechanisms to combat and counteract trafficking in human beings and supports victims of trafficking.

Training on "Legal Framework and Coordination for Unaccompanied Minors"
IOM Bulgaria and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) organized a training on "Legal Framework and Coordination for Unaccompanied Minors" on May 20, 2022 at the Central Park Hotel in Sofia.
During the event, the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) presented the Coordination Mechanism for interaction and work in cases of unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors and attorney. Iliana Savova from the program for legal protection of refugees and migrants at the BHC talked about the peculiarities of the representation of unaccompanied minors.
In the afternoon, representatives from the State Agency for Refugees (SAR) informed about the proceedings under the Dublin Regulation to unaccompanied minors, while the IOM Bulgaria representatives presented the daily challenges and accomplishments in working with unaccompanied minors in the two Safe zones unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors in RRC Ovcha Kupel and RRC Voenna rampa.
Due to the importance of the topic, IOM and UNHCR provided live streaming of the event so that it can be followed live on the Facebook pages of the organizations.
The trainings were carried out within the framework of the project ‘’Strengthening the Capacity of National Institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations in the Field of Asylum’’ The project is funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020
