Victims of human trafficking receive return assistance by IOM Bulgaria
IOM’s team for combatting human trafficking and reintegration of victims realized an escort of a Bulgarian citizen, an unaccompanied minor from Sweden to Bulgaria. In less than 48 hours and IOM representative travelled to the destination country and successfully assisted the return of the victim of labour exploitation to their home country. Like other cases of vulnerable Bulgarians abroad, who have returned with the assistance of IOM, plane tickets and material assistance were provided with the goal of successful reintegration in Bulgaria.
“If you hadn’t come to pick me up, I was going to head to Bulgaria on foot. I miss my family.”, said the beneficent.
Since the start of 2020, IOM Bulgaria has organized the return of 15 victims of human trafficking, 8 of whom minors or vulnerable persons, who were escorted by an IOM representative to their destination of Bulgaria.
