Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bulgaria, IOM assists the development of national mechanisms to combat and counteract trafficking in human beings and supports victims of trafficking.

Working visit of the Federal Agency for Reception and Support Services
Representatives of the Federal Agency for Reception and Support Services (BBU Gmbh) conducted a working visit to Bulgaria in the period 14-16 September and visited the Safety Zones for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors in RRC Sofia - Ovcha Kupel and RRC Sofia -Voenna Rampa.
During the visits, they met with employees of the State Agency for Refugees (SAR) and part of the IOM Bulgaria team, who showed them around the zones and acquainted them with how the zones operate and what we do to provide support for the children accommodated there.
During a working meeting with representatives of the SAR and social workers from various organizations in the field of social care, reception and asylum, the colleagues from Austria shared their experience on the legal framework and ways of caring for asylum-seekers in Austria, triggering an active discussion and great interest from the participants.
The working visit and the inter-institutional meeting took place within the framework of the project "Strengthening the Capacity of National Institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations in the Field of Asylum", funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020
